If you applied the Custom Firmware you won't be able to open the SD card because all of the games that are there should be in the menu when you boot the Flashback 9. The boxes look almost identical but the versions picked up at my local Walmart were only composite video. Check the round circles on the front of the box for a HDMI circle. One thing I noted was that the warning only pops up when the resistance is less than approximately 70 kOhm.
